Barbara Glenn

Dear Members,

Welcome back from a successful, eventful year! I humbly take on the role of President from our distinguished Past President, Katherine Calos, and I thank you for your confidence. I shall do whatever possible to earn that trust through a servant leadership that respects whatever role each of us plays in creating successful, progressive, and engaging experiences in our Woman's Club of Bon Air. I look forward with great enthusiasm to our line-up of inspiring, rewarding, and educational activities. No less is the comradery we experience while getting to know others or diving deeper in friendship during our meetings, committee work, travel and special events. The Program and Travel Committees have worked months ahead to line up engaging, multi-faceted experiences for us and our guests. The Membership Committee has scheduled a Perspective Member Coffee in early September. We can even include the youth in our lives this December when we sign up to attend the play, "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory."  And look for new directions toward enjoying each other in small groups from, what is now, the Social Committee.  Communication of information is being directed to online for ease of access and up-to-date changes, while the telephone is still an option for accessibility. Then, of course, we still maintain our Facebook page.

We've now rebounded completely from covid in size, diversity, talent, depth of knowledge and human understanding, all because of our efforts in collaborating, community support, charitable giving, and mere kindness to one another. In his new book, The Seven Keys to Healthy Aging, Dr. Stephen Schimpff writes, "stimulate your brain, and engage socially," as two of these keys - confirming WCOBA's broad approach to a long healthy life. I encourage each of us to confirm this approach by participating fully in our membership advantages.  Volunteer on WCOBA committees; participate in the social and travel events; bring friends and neighbors to experience our meetings; volunteer time and items to our community partners; and, finally, exemplify the creed in our "Collect."

In closing, I look forward to working and being with you on many occasions, starting with the Coffee, for those of us with perspective members, on September 5, and soon after, our first meeting at Willow Oaks Country Club, on September 19.

In sisterly love and friendship,
Barbara Glenn,

President
