Philanthropy

Each year we budget an amount from our collection of dues to be given to several local organizations.  This amount is increased by the revenue from a 50/50 raffle and donations to a piggy bank at each meeting.  Recent charities selected have included Feed More, the Christmas Mothers of Richmond and Chesterfield, The Mill House, Wounded Warriors, and Children, Inc.

Our club also supports local needs with tangible gifts.  We collect hats and gloves for Southampton School, greeting cards for (name the facility) toiletries for VCU’s Doorways, and similar projects as they are proposed.

Projects

Members of the Woman's Club of Bon Air volunteer with the Neighborhood Literacy Center operated by The Bridge RVA. The program provides a safe, nourishing and trauma-informed environment to help children achieve grade-level reading. Most of the children live in some level of poverty and have experienced significant levels of trauma in their families or environment. Volunteers may be actively involved in teaching literacy skills, reading to the children, taking them on occasional outings or otherwise offering support during weekly sessions.
